PORTERS GRANGE PRIMARY SCHOOL & NURSERY

Lancaster Gardens - Southend

Porters Grange Primary School and Nursery began its life way back in 1892 as Brewery Road School. Unsurprisingly the school’s name came from the fact that there was a nearby brewery.  For much of the life of the school, infants and juniors were separate and had their own headteachers.

Most of the school building dates from the nineteenth century but there have been a number of changes over the years as the school has modernised and responded to demands placed upon the site. These include the construction of new halls and of the kitchen back in the 1990s and the building of a new front entrance and upstairs rooms in the 2000s. The school now has seventeen classrooms, two halls, a computing suite, a music room, a superb library and many work spaces.

Porters Grange educates children from Nursery age right up to Year 6. We really endeavour to make the most of the space that we have whilst respecting the heritage of our building.
